SkyWest Airlines said Tuesday it has decided not to launch new regional jet service on Nov. 1 between its hub at Salt Lake City International Airport and Eugene, Ore.; Great Falls, Mont.; and Burbank and Monterey, Calif.

The new flights, first announced in July and August, have been canceled due to a reduced schedule by Delta Air Lines — for which SkyWest has regional contracts under its Delta Connection banner.

Delta has cut its flight schedule as a result of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks that shut down the airline industry for two days and created an ensuing financial crisis for many of the nation's air carriers, most of which have announced major employee layoffs.
