Mary Rukavina, age 89, passed away Oct. 25, 2001 in Salt Lake City of causes incident to age.

She was born June 14, 1912, in Bingham, Utah, to Nickolas and Magdalen Mataya Rukavina. At the age of six she was then raised by Alice (Ranger) Hubbard.

Ruky was active in sports, enjoyed the outdoors, was a lifeguard and taught swimming at the YWCA. She earned the Golden Eaglet Award in the Girl Scouts, was a Day Camp Leader, Summer Camp Leader and a troop leader for many years. She taught at Bountiful Jr. High School for 24 years and was a counselor for 10 years. She, Alice Hubbard and Zilla Layton purchased a home together in 1952 where they resided until Ruky and Zilla moved to an assisted living center in 1995. Zilla passed away in 1999.

Family and friends have many memories from time spent at their cabin near Kamas playing cards, doing puzzles, tobogganing, snowmobiling and fishing.

She is survived by a sister, Tillie Dominick, three nieces and one nephew, all of WA., and many extended family and friends.

At her request, following cremation, a memorial service will he held at a later date in November, to be announced under the direction of Larkin Mortuary, 363-5781.
