Robert Samuel Brough, age 79, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2001 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Robert was born January 6, 1922 in Lyman, Wyoming, the second son of Franklin Reed and Della Beatrice Eschler Brough. His childhood years were spent in Ogden, Utah graduating from Ogden High School in 1940.

He attended Weber State College and Utah State College. Robert married his high school sweetheart, Kathryn Jeanette Piper, on August 21, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. He proudly served his country in Europe during World War II, attaining the rank of Chief Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

At the conclusion of the war, Robert attended trade school in California, learning watchmaking and clock repair, before returning to Utah to raise his family. His varied career included ownership of his own watch and clock repair shop and assisting with the installation of Brigham Young University's first computer system. He retired as a computer operations supervisor with Mountain Fuel Supply Company in 1984.

Robert was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in many callings, as bishopric member, ward clerk, temple worker, and most recently a stake auditor. Robert's heart was at home and with his family where he loved to grow roses and help his neighbors. He enjoyed time in the outdoors, particularly days spent fishing with his son and grandsons.

Robert was happiest with a dog on his lap or at his side.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Reed and Della Brough; his mother-in-law, Ethel Piper; his brother, Eugene Brough; his sister, Ethel (Richard) Allred; his sister-in-law, Margaret Brough; and a granddaughter, Tiffany Brough. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, and four children, Marshall (Janet) Brough,

Annette (Frank) Langheinrich, Howard (Mark Bunce) Brough, Karen (Kirk) Martineau; brother, Rulon (Louise) Brough, sister-in-law, Aline Piper White and Norma Brough Rolfsen, 15 grandchildren, ten great-grand children, and Smokey, the last in a line of overindulged dogs.
