St. George-based SkyWest Airlines planned a ribbon cutting and open house Tuesday from 2-5:30 p.m. for its new aircraft hangar at Salt Lake City International Airport.

The new hangar at 1129 N. 3950 West (directly south of the airport control tower) totals some 85,000 square feet, more than doubling the size of its previous facility at the airport.

In addition to training and office facilities, the new hangar can accommodate up to 18 Embraer 120 Brazilia prop planes or 10 Canadair Regional Jets, both of which make up SkyWest's fleet.
