BOISE (AP) — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is being sued for allegedly failing to protect a rare flower under the Endangered Species Act. The slickspot peppergrass is unique to Idaho.

The Western Watersheds Project and the Committee for Idaho's High Desert contend that livestock grazing, off-road vehicle use and an influx of non-native weeds have left the plant near extinction. They blame U.S. Sen. Michael Crapo for quashing protection efforts by the federal agency.
