In loving memory of Lillian Goodwin Nelson, who was born December 16, 1907 to Royal Ingersoll Goodwin and Flora Belle Ballinger Goodwin in Peoria, IL. She died Dec. 10, 2001, in American Fork.
After grad-uating from Oregon State University in 1930, she taught high school in Rigby, Idaho for two years. While there she met and married Leo B. Nelson in May 1932. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They moved to American Fork where they both taught at the High School.
Lillian was active in many church, school and civic activities. But her love was in doing genealogical research. She was the PTA President of the Harrington Elementary School, and was instrumental in organizing the school lunch program.
She is survived by her two daughters, Betty (Evan) Brady, and LaRae (Max) Scott; five grandchildren, Scot and Vanet Brady; Valerie, Derek, and Sterling Scott; and 13 great-grandchildren. Her husband, Leo, preceded her in death in 1976.
The family would like to acknowledge the kind and loving care extended by the staff at Heritage Care Center.
Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 14, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork; where friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.; and Friday one hour prior to services. Burial, American Fork Cemetery.
