WAYNESBURG, Pa. (AP) — A death row inmate convicted of killing three people four years ago has died from natural causes in his prison cell, corrections officials said.

The inmate, Keith Scavo, died early Saturday. Greene County Coroner Greg Rohanna performed an autopsy the following day and ruled that Scavo died naturally.

Scavo was 42 when he was sentenced to death on May 7, 1999. Officials at the State Correctional Institution would not confirm Scavo's age at the time of his death.

Scavo was convicted on three counts of first-degree murder for shooting his ex-wife, Kimberly, 29; her boyfriend, Bill Sauer, 46; and her mother, Tamar Carsello, 50.
