Arvy Marie Wright Hansen, 80, of Idaho Falls, passed away February 21, 2001, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center
following a stroke.
Marie was born December 30, 1920, at Rock Springs, Wyoming, to Ray R Wright and Reesie Velma Davis Wright.
She grew up in Bridger Valley, Wyoming, where she
attended Lyman Elementary School, Irving Junior High, and Lyman High School.
She also attended the University of Wyoming Business College. When she was 15-years-old she moved to Salt Lake City for three years, then returned to Wyoming and lived in Laramie until her marriage.
On September 26, 1942, Marie was married to LaMar Jay Hansen in Salt Lake City, Utah.
They made their home in Salt Lake City for ten years, then came to Idaho Falls until 1960, where she co-founded Atomic Worker's Credit Union (now Westmark), then they moved to Woodville. Marie has been a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
An active member of the LDS Church, she served in all the auxiliaries. She was a great den mother and family history consultant.
Marie served a full-time mission to the Salt Lake City Family History Center.
She loved genealogy, making quilts for neighborhood babies, grandchildren, and family and friends. Marie enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and had a love of nature and God.
Surviving are: Son: Michael L. (Charlotte) Hansen, Orem, UT; daughter, Wendy M. Wright, Hunter, UT; daughter, Rebecca H. (Daniel) Tonks, Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Marene R. (Grant) Stensrud, Taylorsville, UT; Daughter-in-law, Carol Hansen, Salt Lake City, UT; sister: Lydia Fackrell, Green River, WY; sister, Thana Harding, Salt Lake City; brother, Merl R. Wright, Marco Island, FL; brother, Lenard G. Wright, Salt Lake City, UT; 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Jon Niels Hansen.
Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2001, at the Shelley LDS Woodville 1st Ward, 1555 North 700 East, Shelley, with Bishop Brent Shumway officiating. The family will visit with friends beginning at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Woodville Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, Idaho Falls, Idaho
