After fighting a courageous battle with cancer, Barbara Sabin has moved on to her next cultural event. She passed away early Feb. 24, 2001, with her family. Mom served as an inspir-ation to her kids and the wonderful friends she acquired. Always determined not to be a victim, her positive attitude and sense of humor prevailed to the end. Her life centered around family, friends, civic activities and dogs, though not neces-sarily in that order. She raised four children, and was blessed with six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Active in numerous leadership positions with the PTA, Symphony Guild and Bertha Eccles Art Center, she especially enjoyed more than 20 years of docent work, teaching the arts to school children.
Born September 19, 1927 in Sacramento, California, she grew up in Ogden raised by her Uncle Paul and Aunt Lucille. Married John Robert Sabin on August 13, 1948. Bob
preceded her in death on June 6, 1986.
Survived by sister Eleanor; brother Bill; son Paul and wife Maxine; son Mark; son Dirk and wife Randi; daughter Carolyn and husband Sam; grandkids Mindy, Julie, Ashley, Chloe, Sam and Connor; and great-grandkids Ryan and Mason.
A memorial service will be held in her honor March 10, 2001, at the Bertha Eccles Art Center in Ogden. Friends may call on the family from 4:30-5 p.m. with the service beginning at 5 p.m. The family requests donations to the Bertha Eccles
Art Center or the Utah Symphony in lieu of flowers.
