HAGATNA, Guam (AP) — A former clinic employee shot six people at the medical facility before being fatally wounded by police Monday, authorities said. Two women were killed.
The two fatalities were pronounced dead at Guam Memorial Hospital, where the alleged gunman later died while undergoing surgery, officials said.
Five of the victims were shot on the second floor of the two-story Seventh Day Adventist Clinic, while the sixth, a man who had been taken hostage, and the gunman were shot on the first floor, Officer A.J. Balajadia said.
"I've seen shootings, but I've never seen anything like this on Guam," said Balajadia, an 18-year veteran of the force.
Police did not release the suspect's name, but witnesses told the Pacific Daily News he was Peter Aguon Maguadog, a local artist who had worked at the clinic.
