Robert D. (Bob) Bailey, our beloved father and brother, died peacefully at home on Thursday, March 15, 2001.
Born October 2nd (or 3rd), 1930 to Arnold W. and Erma Cracroft Bailey in Salt Lake City, Utah. Married Vernalu Draney on March 4, 1949. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on August 13, 1975. She died August 17, 1989. Graduated South High and attended University of Utah. He was Safety Director for IML Freight, where he worked for 34 years and then for six years with Progressive Insurance before his retirement. He was National Chairman of American Trucking Council of Safety Supervisors, past President of Utah Safety Council, member of National Defense Executive Reserve. Recipient of the National Safety Marcus A. Dow Memorial "Safety Directors Award." He was a member of the Lake Ridge 3rd Ward of the LDS Church where he served in many positions. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and his brother, James W. Bailey.
He is survived by his son, Brent D. (Wendy) Bailey; his daughters Pamela A. (Jerry) Brown and Paula J. (David) Ellis; his sister, Linda Purcell (Albert) Ogden; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Service is scheduled for Monday, March 19th, 2001 at 11 am at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan. Friends may call on Sunday, March 18th from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to services. Interment will follow services at Redwood Memorial Estates.
