Merle Maxwell George passed away March 7, 2001 in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 82.
Born February 26, 1919 in Tabiona, Utah to Arthur Bruce Maxwell and Leona Nye. She was raised in the Uintah Basin and attended West- minster College. Married W. Carl George; after 40 years they divorced. Employed by the State of Utah, working on the cutting edge, contributing to the conversion from old administrative sys-tems to computerized technology.
She is survived by her daughters: Kathleen Mathie and Marianne and Bruce Arnold; son-in-law Larry Mathie; sister Faye M. (Wesley) Nance; grandchildren: Mark (Monica) Mathie, Kirk Mathie, Colleen (Doug) Jardine, and Carl (Laura) Arnold; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; and brothers and sisters: Wilda Stoffers, Floyd Maxwell, Zoa May Maxwell, Doyle Maxwell, Betty Comer and Rose Mary Peterson.
A graveside service is scheduled for Sat., March 10, 2001, 2 p.m. at Memorial Estates Mountain View, 3115 East 7800 S., Cottonwood Heights. Friends are invited to call two hours prior to the service time for viewing.
