SPRINGVILLE — A new Wal-Mart Supercenter will hold grand opening ceremonies here starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
The 204,167-square-foot store has created some 500 new jobs and offers customers a full line of groceries and general merchandise as well as several specialty shops, such as a Tire & Lube Express, a vision center a portrait studio, a hair salon, photo-processing and a bank branch. During the grand opening, Wal-Mart employees will contribute $8,500 to local non-profit organizations through the company's "Good Works" program, which has given more than $1 million to Utah community organizations since 1999.
Since opening its first store in Utah in 1990, Wal-Mart now employs 7,000 Utahns in four Supercenters, 12 Wal-Mart Stores, five Sam's Clubs and one distribution center.
