NASHVILLE — HCA, which has five hospitals in Utah, said last week it had net income of $326 million, or 59 cents per share, for the quarter ended March 31. That compares with $296 million, or 52 cents per share, for the same period a year ago.
The per-share earnings matched the consensus estimate of Wall Street analysts.
Revenues totaled $4.5 billion, up from $4.3 billion in the prior-year period.
Same-facility revenues for the first quarter increased 6.8 percent, while revenue per equivalent admission increased 4.9 percent. Same-facility inpatient revenue per admission rose 6.9 percent. Same-facility admissions increased 2.3 percent for the quarter.
At the end of the quarter, the company operated 194 hospitals and 77 ambulatory surgery centers, including nine hospitals and three ASCs owned through equity joint ventures. During the quarter, it sold two hospitals and one ASC.
HCA operates St. Mark's Hospital in Salt Lake, Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Timpanogos Regional Medical Center in Orem, Mountain View Hospital in Payson and the Ogden Regional Medical Center.
