FARMINGTON-<! > Dee Glen Smith, our husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, uncle, and friend, age 57, passed away peacefully April 2, 2001. His gift of quiet wisdom and patience will be missed and always apprecia-ted. He treasured his family, but especially his grandchildren.

Dee was born September 8, 1943 to Glen G. Smith and Merle Hancock in Ogden. He married Susan Margaret Layton of Kaysville in the Salt Lake Temple on March 19, 1964. Graduated from New Plymouth High School (Idaho), Salt Lake Technical College and Brigham Young University. He was a Senior Nuclear Engineer with General Electric for 32 years prior to his retirement in 1999. He traveled the world servicing nuclear power plants. The family lived in Arizona, Minnesota, Germany, Iowa, and Utah. Active in the LDS church, he served in the Elder's Quorum, Young Men, Boy Scouts, three Bishoprics, and as a home teacher. He most recently served at home extracting names for Family History.

Surviving are his wife, Susan; son, Scott (Marsha) of Lehi; daughter, Christine (Thomas) Carlyle of West Jordan; grandchildren, Rachel (8), Rebecca (6), Emma (2), Parker (1), and Joy (1); parents, Glen and Merle of West Bountiful; sisters, Ilene (Myron) Nelson, Brenda (Greg) Stevens; brothers, Dennis (Deby), and Randy (Kris). Preceded in death by his granddaughter, Olivia.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the Davis Creek 2nd Ward Chapel, 825 S. 50 E. Farmington. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 N. Main and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Farmington City Cemetery.
