Salt Lake Acting Company has been selected to receive a Governor's Award in the Arts as the winner of the Community/Arts Organization Category for outstanding contributions to the arts in Utah.
The company was selected from more than 100 nominations submitted by Utah's leading artists, arts organizations and arts supporters.
In response to news of the award, SLAC's executive producers Nancy Borgenicht and Allen Nevins stated, "On behalf of the board of trustees and SLAC staff, we are honored and grateful that Salt Lake Acting Company has been recognized for its unique contribution to the cultural community of Utah. We thank the ever-growing and dedicated audience who have supported SLAC's mission of nurturing and employing local artists, developing and producing new plays and providing Utah audiences with thought-provoking contemporary theater.
"This award is shared by the hundreds of artists and technicians, our loyal patrons and the numerous corporations and foundations who have sustained SLAC over the past 30 years."
The awards gala will be on Friday, April 20, at the Wyndham Hotel.
