William Joseph Bean "Billy Joe", 77 of Bremerton, Washington died on April 28, 2001 at Martha and Mary Nursing Home in Poulsbo, Washington.
He was born on March 15, 1924 in Price, Utah to Benjamin and Carrie (Evans) Bean. Bill married Enid Waterman in Salt Lake Temple on February 25, 1944. She preceded him in death November 11, 2000. He earned an associate degree at Carbon College in 1958 then went on to Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon in earning a Bachelor of Science Degree and in 1967 became a Doctor of Optometry. Bill worked for 32 years as an Optometrist, retiring in 1999. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Bill was a member of the Bremerton Kiwanis and a model train collector, enjoyed gardening and his grandchildren.
Surviving are sons William C. Bean of Forest Grove, Oregon, Phillip L. Bean of Bremerton, David A. Bean of Poulsbo, and Douglas I. Bean of Port Orchard; daughter Jeanette Warner of Lawson, Missouri; brother Delbert Bean of Sandy, Utah; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Willis and Arnold, and sisters Ruth, Ida, and Melba.
Graveside service was Thursday, May 3rd at Sunset Lane Cemetery in Port Orchard followed by a memorial service at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Silverdale. Memorial donations may be made to Martha & Mary Nursing Home, 19160 Front Street NE, Poulsbo, WA 98370
