LEHI-<! > Nelda Jean Brooks Carter, 71, passed away at the Utah Valley Hospital, April 27, 2001, due to complications of leukemia.
She was born November 12, 1929, to James Albert and Sarah Jane Kinder Brooks in Lehi, Utah. She married Archie Glendon Carter July 11, 1947, in Elko, Nevada. Glen died January 28, 1993. Nelda then was sealed to him in the Salt Lake Temple in January of 1994. Nelda remarried Jack Hale on September 25, 1999, in Lehi, Utah. Nelda was educated at Lehi High School. She served at different adoption agencies as a volunteer worker. She also served on the CIA (Civic Improvement Association) and was a member of the Lehi Long Horn Riding Club. Nelda lived in Lehi for all her married life. Her family was her greatest joy. She enjoyed dancing, supporting the Grizzly Hockey team, the Jazz, going on family vacations, making her yard look nice, and most of all spending quality time with her family. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had several callings in most of the church organizations.
She is survived by her husband, Jack; sisters, Vanda Jacobs, Lehi; and Hazel Lloyd, American Fork; children, Janie Elton, Patsy Barnes, Clint Carter, Wyatt Carter, Tami Davis, all of Lehi; three step-children, Brent Hale, Lake Wood, CO; LaRinda Hale, Salt Lake City; Bobby Hale, Idaho Falls, ID; four adopted children, Jenny Hulley, Australia; Liz Rowley, Taiwan; Joe Carter, Virginia; Allison (Gee) Turner, Lehi; foster children, Elizabeth Jaynes, Lehi; Vong Svay, Seattle, WA; Vee Svay, Long Beach, CA; 35 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many loving nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many dear friends who loved her like a sister and a mother. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; her daughter, Abby Rae; her parents; her grandson, Shane Elton; brothers, Lynn, Leroy, Glen, and Albert Brooks; sisters, Nita Brown, Rebena Green.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 5, 2001, at 12 noon at the Lehi West Stake Center, 1920 N. 500 W., Lehi. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi, and Saturday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery next to the love of her life.
