- Shawnee Mae Peterson Compagno, age 62, passed away May 23, 2001 at the home of her mother after complications following heart surgery.
Shawnee was born Sept 18, 1938 in Logan, UT to Harold and Ruth Cantwell Peterson. Her family moved to Magna, UT in 1950 where she attended Cyprus High School. She married Charles Arvon Roe and later divorced. She married Philip V. Compagno in Reno, NV. Phil passed away in April, 1998.
Ruth and Shawnee ran the Chatterbox Drive Inn in Magna. They were also in business together operating Ruth's Beauty Salon for over twenty years. In 1985 Shawnee went to work at Continental Business Printing where she was the office manager. Shawnee showed a lot of pride in her work, and she put her heart and soul in whatever she did. She always had an open ear and a compassionate heart. Her number one interest was her family. She loved to crochet, bowl, have her family over for dinner, go to Wendover and the stock car races.
She is survived by her five children, Jerry (Shelly) Roe, Vickie Compagno, Jan (Val) Green, Lynn (Pete) Nielsen, Sam (Stacy) Compagno; mother and father; brother, Roxy (Marsha) Peterson; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and two nephews.
Services will be 12 noon Tues. May 29, 2001 at the Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 S, Magna, where friends may call Mon. 7-9 p.m. and Tues. one hour prior to services. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
