Florine Heaton Major, age 84, died May 24, 2001 of natural causes in Cedar City, Utah.
She was born Aug 5, 1916 in Orderville, UT to Franklin Alvin and Flora Lundquist Heaton. Florine married her sweetheart Sam-uel Harrod Major April 25, 1944 in Louisville, KY. The marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angles LDS Temple. Florine was a active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings, including the extraction program. She made excellent homemade candy and her recipe for penuche will never be cracked.
Survivors: children, Michael Robert (Patrica) Major, Milwaukee, WI, Kath-leen Major Nelson, Murray, UT, Pat-rick Richard Major, Sharon Major (Michael) Tagney, both of Cedar City, UT; grandchildren, Kathryn Casey, Samuel Major, Amy Kaye Nelson, Lauren Major, Marci Elizabeth Tagney; special grandson, Aaron Nelson; two sisters, Fern Heaton Leigh, Cedar City, UT, Katherine Heaton Ricci, Mesquite, NV; and a brother, Adrian (Buddy) Heaton, Salt Lake City, UT. She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Morse Heaton, Gordon Heaton; and a sister, Ann Heaton Mars.
Services will be Tues. May 29, 2001, 11 a.m. at the Cedar LDS 17th Ward Chapel. Friends may call Mon. 7-8 p.m. at the Southern Utah Mortuary and Tues. one hour prior to services at the Church. Interment, Kanab Cemetery, 3 p.m.
