- Jesse Pitcher Coulam, 89, passed away from congestive heart failure, at his home and surrounded by his loved ones, on May 25, 2001.

Jesse was born in Lindon, Utah on July 17, 1911 to John Cordon and MaryAnn Pitcher Coulam. He was raised and attended school in Pleasant Grove, UT. He operated service stations in Rupert and Burley, Idaho and Florence, Arizona before settling in Kaysville, Utah where he retired as an aircraft maintenance inspector at Hill Air Force Base.

He married Merla Orton on December 23, 1939 in Burley, Idaho. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 27, 1940.

After retiring, Jesse and Merla enjoyed 20 winters in Mesa, Arizona where they formed many life-long friendships to add to their numerous other friends. Jesse had a green thumb and was happy when outside working in his yard. He loved music and taught his children to appreciate good music. He loved his family and welcomed people into his home. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was a High Priest in the Kaysville 9th Ward. He served in many callings in the Church.

He is survived by his wife, Merla, four children, Linda (Orwin) Draney, Kaysville; John (Shirley) Coulam, Sun City, CA; Neva (David) Lenz, Melba, ID; Brent Coulam, Layton; 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and three

sisters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 2, 2001 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville East Stake Center, 201 So. 600 E., Kaysville, with Bishop Douglas Richins, Officiating. Friends and family may call Friday, June 1, 2001 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Thursday from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
