KENZ ("The End," FM-107.5), KISN (FM-97.1), KRSP ("Arrow 103.5") and KUBL ("K-Bull," FM-93.3) were four of the most improved stations in the latest Arbitron ratings, which were released Monday.
This is the "Winter Book," and though KSFI (FM-100.3) remained atop the age 12-plus overall ratings, as well as those for the ages 25-54 adult group, KENZ improved from third place to lead the rankings for listeners, ages 18-34.
"The End" dethroned KXRK ("X-96") as the top young-adult station; X-96 slipped to third place. KENZ improved its ratings by 1.1 percent, while KZHT (FM-94.9) moved from fourth to second place. KXRK did beat KENZ in the age 12-plus division.
KRSP was tied for 10th place for adult listeners in the "Fall Book" and yet jumped to second this time. In similar fashion, KISN was 13th among young-adult listeners last fall and yet leaped to a fourth-place finish this time around.
KUBL is ranked as the undisputed No. 1 country-music station now, leading all three of the main age categories. KKAT (FM-101.9) had tied KUBL last fall in one age group and ranked second among adults. However, KKAT slipped to an 11th-place tie this time among adult listeners. The other FM country station, KSOP (FM-104.3/AM-1370), had its best finish in the adult age group with a tie for ninth-place.
KSL (FM-1160) remained second among age 12-plus listeners, but slipped a notch among adult listeners. KNRS (AM-570) news/talk, improved its overall audience by 0.6 percent and moved from 12th to eighth among 12-plus listeners.
Two other AM stations, KIQN (AM-1010) and KTKK ("K-Talk," AM-630) were too low to measure in any of the three main age categories.
