Indiana-based Irwin Union Bank has entered the Utah market and opened an office in downtown Salt Lake City.
Rick Stevenson, a veteran Utah banker, has been named president of the bank's Salt Lake operation, 15 S. West Temple.
Stevenson said the new bank is "already doing brisk business in commercial loans."
He said the 130-year-old banking company, headquartered in Columbus, Ind., was attracted to Utah "by its strong local economy, future growth projections and availability of seasoned local employees."
All of the bank's employees are Utahns, he said, adding that the company specializes in commercial banking, investments, trust services and insurance in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, Arizona and now Utah.
Irwin Union Bank is a subsidiary of Irwin Financial Corp., the holding company for six subsidiaries: Irwin Union Bank FSB, Irwin Union Bank and Trust Co., Irwin Mortgage Corp., Irwin Home Equity Corp., Irwin Business Finance and Irwin Ventures Inc.
Stevenson said customers may conduct all of their banking via computer by accessing www.irwinunion.com
