Ohio-based Big Lots is changing the name of its Utah Mac Frugal stores to Big Lots as the company refurbishes and reorganizes shops under the Big Lots name.

The closeout retailer said Thursday it is refurbishing its more than 1,300 stores nationwide and renaming them all Big Lots. Its outlets under the names Big Lots, Odd Lots, Pic 'N' Save and Mac Frugal's will be undergoing the makeovers.

The name change occurs Aug. 1 at two Mac Frugal's stores in Salt Lake City and one each in Murray, Provo, Sandy, South Ogden, West Valley City and Woods Cross. The Kearns store will close soon for remodeling and will have the Big Lots name when it reopens.

The store chain offers closeout merchandise acquired either from overstocked manufacturers, package changes or discontinued and trial-basis products.
