San Antonio-based Clear Channel Communications will acquire Salt Lake's KTVX Channel 4, owned by Fox Television, a unit of News Corp., the companies announced Friday.

The deal is part of a swap in which Clear Channel will exchange a Minneapolis television station for two Fox stations, KTVX, in Salt Lake, and KMOL in San Antonio.

News Corp. acquired KTVX on Wednesday, after federal regulators approved the company's $4.4 billion purchase of New York-based Chris-Craft Industries, the former owners of KTVX.

The swap settles a dispute between Fox Television and the U.S. Justice Department.

Because Fox already owned KSTU-Channel 13, creating a duopoly, the U.S. Justice Department filed suit in April to block Fox's purchase of Chris-Craft.

The Justice Department said it would drop its suit if the judge approved plans to sell Utah's KTVX. Clear Channel shares rose 60 cents on Friday to $59.90.
