CHIANG MAI, Thailand — Members in the Chiang Mai Branch in the Thailand District joined together on June 2 to clean the grounds of a new school built for underprivileged children in a rural farming village. They spent the entire Saturday clearing away garbage, cutting down trees and weeds, spreading dirt and sand, and cleaning out a canal behind the school.

Branch leaders volunteered the services of the youth to help clean up the construction debris and groom the grounds of the school. Sister Hollee MacKay, who organized the service project, said she wondered how many would actually come because not many had ever participated in a service project. On the morning of the activity, more than 40 members showed up, not only youth, but of all ages.

The service project made an impact on some who sponsored the construction of the school. Frank Weicks, vice president of the foundation, stated, "I was most impressed with the work ethic. Everyone stayed working the whole time and there was wonderful camaraderie, the way it should be."
