WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A 14-year-old boy convicted of killing his teacher lost privileges in jail after officials caught him trying to mail stolen educational materials.

Nathaniel Brazill tried to mail stolen CD-ROMs in a manila envelope, officials said. He was found guilty at a disciplinary hearing at the jail last month and will not be allowed snacks, television or newspapers for 30 days.

Brazill said another inmate gave him the CD-ROMs, which were jail property. He said he intended to mail them to his father in Volusia County.

His father, Nathaniel Brazill Sr., said he had no idea why he might have been trying to mail the CD-ROMs to him.
