PROVO — Provo police were alerted Friday to a bank robbery at Far West Bank by a customer who witnessed the robbery through the window at the drive-through service.

Although they were alerted by cell phone while the heist was in progress, police were unable to prevent two men from emptying a number of the tills and escaping out the east doors of the bank at 201 E. Center.

Provo Police Capt. Brad Leatham said the men, disguised with wigs, heavy makeup and wearing baseball caps, entered the bank about 2:30 p.m. and demanded cash.

One man jumped over the counter with a handgun and took cash from the drawers.

The other man waited, ordering bank workers to get on the floor while he talked with someone on a hand-held short-frequency radio.

Police want anyone with information to contact the police at 852-6210.
