Mary Lucille McMillan Eggert passed away July 6, 2001 of causes incident to age.
Born in Murray, UT May 14, 1910 to Michael McMillan, Jr. and Rosella Susannah Simper McMillan. Married Earl Raymond Eggert, Jr. March 6, 1958 in Murray, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died Aug 19, 1997.
Most of Mary's life was spent in Murray. She attended grade school and high school in the Murray District. In June of 1939 Mary received her BS Degree from the University of Utah. Then she received her MS degree in 1945 from the University of Southern California. In 1958, she received her Doctorate Degree from the University of Utah. Mary taught Elementary Education in the Granite and Jordan School Districts. She was the Elementary Supervisor in Emery and Iron County Schools. She was an associate professor in Elementary Education at the College of Southern Utah, taught at the University of Utah Stewart School and became an associate professor of education at the University of Utah.
Mary was an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in numerous positions. She and Ray regularly attended the Jordan River Temple prior to Ray's death.
Survived by sisters-in-law, Mary (Mayme) McMillan, Murray, Betty Freeman, CA; numerous nieces and nephews in the McMillan family and by the Jack and Mary DeMass family. Preceded in death by her husband, Ray; parents; five brothers, Elmo, Veryl, Newell, Mick, Art; and one sister, Afton.
Thanks to family and friends who have been special to Mary over the years. Your love and help have meant much. We express gratitude and thanks to the staff of Holladay Estates who have given such sweet care and love for Mary these final years of her life.
Services will be Tues July 10, 1 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State where friends may call Mon. 6-8 p.m. and Tues. 12-12:45 p.m. Interment, Murray City Cemetery.
