The Earthgrains Co., including its Salt Lake bakery, has been acquired by St. Louis-based Sara Lee Corp.
Terms of the acquisition were not announced.
The bakery at 3475 S. 300 West will operate under the name Sara Lee Bakery Group. The division of Sara Lee Corp. will continue to produce Old Home bread and buns at the bakery, which employees about 225 people. The sales and distribution system in its service area has 180 workers.
The combined operations generate about $3.4 billion in annual sales. Earthgrains' common stock stopped trading on the New York Stock Exchange at the close of the market Tuesday.
