STOCKTON, Tooele County — With five years of operation under its belt this month, the Tooele Chemical Agent Disposal Facility destroyed the last of its GB-filled M55 rockets Tuesday, Army officials said.

Nearly 29,000 of the GB (sarin)-filled rockets had been stored at Deseret Chemical Depot at one time. The plant has destroyed 1,057 M56 warheads, 119,391 explosive and 679,048 nonexplosive 105 mm projectiles and 4,463 MC-1 bombs — all containing GB. The plant has also processed 32,155 nonexplosive GB 155 mm projectiles, 5,189 ton containers with GB inside.

After destruction of all GB agent in storage, the plant will begin burning VX nerve agent munitions and then mustard-filled munitions.
