Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, friend, and teacher, Wesley Jay Johansen, passed away August 18, 2001, at his home in Mt. Pleasant, Utah.
He was born Feb 13, 1918, in Mt. Pleasant, UT to, Joseph and Sarah Olevia Monsen Johansen. He married Joyce Rebecca Irons, April 28, 1944, in the Manti LDS Temple. She preceded him in death, after 50 years of loving companionship. Also preceded in death by his oldest son, Wesley Jay Jr.; daughter-in-law, Lori; son-in-law, Stephen Loveridge; brothers, Vernon, Grant; and sister, Etta Hayward.
He is survived by his six children, Bonnie (Wayne) Ware, Sandy, Kath-lyn, Elk Ridge, Brent (Cindy), Blanding, Gregg, Wanship, Keith (Coleen), Heber City, Darin (Lori), Spring City; 31 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchil-dren; and his youngest brother, Dan, Mt. Pleasant.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Mutual, as a ward clerk, in the high priest group leadership and a home teacher with Joyce as his companion.
He was a dedicated teacher having taught business subjects at North Sanpete and Orem High Schools for 37 years. He touched the lives of multiple generations of students. He was also a successful farmer and took great pride in his farm and livestock.
He served in the Army at Ft. San Luis Obispo, Ft. Bragg, and Ft. Sill during World War II. He enjoyed the Mountains, hunting, and fishing. Most of all, though, he loved his family and enjoyed being with them.
Services will be Wed. Aug 22, 2001, 11 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant 4th LDS Ward Chapel, (49 S. State, Mt. Pleasant). Friends may call at the Ursenbach Funeral Home (96 N. 100 W, Mt. Pleasant) Tues. 6-8 p.m. and Wed. 9:30-10:30 a.m. Burial, with Military Rites, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Directors, Ursenbach Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant.
