WASHINGTON, Washington County — A woman is in serious condition and another man is in jail after an early Wednesday stabbing at the local Super WalMart.

Kimberly Davis, 26, St. George, was working in the clothing area of Super WalMart at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday when a 23-year-old Washington man attacked her with a knife, Washington County Sheriff Kirk Smith said.

Another employee, Mary Owings, approached the man and yelled at him to stop, Smith said.

"She thought he was hitting the victim, and it wasn't until he pulled away that she saw he had a knife," the sheriff said.

The man began chasing Owings through the store until other employees showed up and started yelling at him. Several employees pulled Davis away and called police.

Deputy Shauna Jones happened to be in the parking lot when the 911 call was received and immediately went into the store with her weapon drawn.

She found a man holding four large knives and facing a crowd of WalMart employees who were keeping him at bay.

Davis was taken by ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center, where she is listed in serious condition with multiple stab wounds to her head and chest, DRMC spokeswoman Terri Draper said.

The man told officers that his intent, when he walked into WalMart, was to kill as many people as he could, Smith said.

Paulson Tsosie has been charged with one count of attempted homicide, a first-degree felony, and one count of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony. He also is being held on an outstanding warrant for auto theft. He is being held without bail in the Purgatory Correctional Facility.
