Travis Tritt received the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall of Fame Award, which honors an entertainer for distinguished service to the nation, veterans and the armed forces.

The 38-year-old country singer received the award Wednesday at a VFW convention in Milwaukee, said his spokeswoman, Kathy Allmand.

Tritt was the spokesman for the Disabled American Veterans from 1994-96. He has played a disabled veteran in three music videos, and his concert video "Travis Tritt, A Celebration" was recorded during a performance for disabled veterans.
