A judge Monday set Sept. 11 as the date for a preliminary hearing into charges of child molestation against comedian Paula Poundstone, with her attorney predicting the popular comic would be found innocent.

Attorney Steven Cron, speaking to reporters after a judge set the hearing date for the 41-year-old comedian, said he had reviewed the evidence against Poundstone and expected her to be cleared of the charges.

"Everything I've seen from the facts of the case convince me that Paula is not a child molester," Cron said. "I know the charges and I know the allegations and Paula is not guilty."

He said Poundstone, who was arrested June 27 and charged with three counts of lewd acts on a child under 14 and three counts of child endangerment, was still undergoing treatment at a live-in alcohol rehabilitation facility.

"She's still in rehab and she's still seeing her children regularly," Cron said of Poundstone, who has three adopted children and has cared for a number of foster children.

Poundstone, dressed in a blue pinstriped suit and green and yellow polka-dot tie, stood silently beside to Cron during his remarks. She faces a maximum of 13 years in prison if convicted.
