Salt Lake-based Skaggs Companies Inc. has agreed to sell its manufacturing division to Jane Gritz, an employee of the public safety equipment company.
The 22-year-old manufacturing division, often referred to as Skaggs Telecommunications Services, produces communication console furniture, mobile command vehicles and surveillance vehicles.
Gritz and her partner, J. Michael Burke, plan to close the sale Sept. 7 and rename the company Emergency Management Equipment.
"Jane has been the driving force behind this division for the past five years," said Don Skaggs, president and CEO of Skaggs Companies. "She knows the customers, the market and the employees. I am confident and proud that the new company will maintain the same excellence and quality that we have established over the past 22 years."
Skaggs Companies operates 13 retail public safety stores and a public safety catalog division. Its products are sold to public safety organizations worldwide.
