Lloyd Dennis "Po'a" Tuia, age 49, passed away peacefully in his sleep July 27, 2001 at home in Taylors-ville, Utah. He fought a coura-geous battle with many health com-plications.
He was born Nov 25, 1952 in Honolulu, HI to Fa'asuamalie Tuia and Malamalama Paialii. He at-tended Compton High School and Mapusaga High School. He married Oliana Fiso June 25, 1977 in Lynwood, CA.
"Poa" Tuia was our gentle, soft spoken giant who spent his life radiating characteristics of Christ. He was kind, caring and very giving with unconditional love. His only expectation was to have his family, friends, and acquaintances stay close to the Lord with humility and gratitude. He could never speak ill of anyone or anything, and always promoted a positive mental attitude. He was known as Laie's Aquaman because of his love for deep sea fishing. His baking talents, in creating wedding cakes will be missed in Samoa, Hawaii, California and Utah.
He served a full time Fiji Mission, and served our country honorably for 4 years in the Armed Forces. He also served in the bishopric Mesepa International Ward, (MIW) of American Samoa, Pago West Stake. He was the owner of Apiolefaga Complex Inn, created Tafuna Construction Company and Lloyd's Landscaping and Janitorial Services and co-owner of Matufa Catering in Salt Lake City, UT.
He is survived by his wife, Oliana Fiso Tuia; daughters, Ariane Tuia (UT), Tasi and Omi Yamamoto (CA); sons, Tyrone, Lyle, Lloyd Jr. (UT); parents, Malamalama Paialii Tuia andFa'asuamalie Tuia; sisters, Theresa Moanau (HI), Lana Sii(HI), Pebbles Pasia (UT), Tammy Seve (NV); brothers, Patrick Fonoimoana (CA), Michael Tuia (HI), Lance Tuia (HI), Larry Tuia (UT), Robert Tuia (GA); and one grandchild, Zachary Hikaru PuifatuIoane. He is preceded in death by his brother, Gregory Tuia; and sister, Esther Ikakoula.
Services will be Wed. Aug 8, 2001 10:00 a.m. at the Mapusaga Ward Chapel, 3737 S. 5200 W, West Valley City. Interment: Utah Veterans Memorial Park. Funeral Directors: Valley View Funeral Home.
