James O. Cummings, age 80, died July 30, 2001 with his loving family at his bedside.

He was born in Waynesburg, PA Feb 2, 1921 as the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cummings. Jim married the form-er Joyce Richard-son, of Salt Lake City, UT Jan 20, 1943. Later so-lemnized for time and eternity in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple.

He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the US Army Air Corps in Oct 1943 and was shot down in May of 1943. He was captured in Germany and was a prisoner of war for 801 days. Upon his liberation from prison camp, he returned to the U.S. and served with honor and distinction in the USAF for 22 years. He retired with the rank of lieutenant colonel.

Jim also completed a 17-year career with the Boeing Company and concluded his Boeing career as the Utah area general manager. Jim was a noble gentleman, beloved by friends and family.

Survivors include wife, Joyce R. Cummings; son, Lt Col James R. (Marlene) Cummings; daughters, Susan (Kent) Kofford, Rebecca Jo (Richard) Farnsworth; grandchildren: Kristine, John, Tom, Jeff, Scott, Joseph, David, Sam, Chris, Kristine; and great-grandchildren: Kelton, Gavin, Bridger, Arika.
