A. Brent Dee, 56, passed away peacefully at his home September 6, 2001 in West Jordan, Utah.
Brent was born Aug 7, 1945 in Blackfoot, ID the son of Hank and Iola Dee. He was raised in Riverdale, UT and attended Weber High School and later, Brigham Young University. He married Kathleen Hunter with whom he had three children, Scott, Jilchristy and Maurine; they were later divorced.
He graduated from the Police Academy. He was a member of the law enforcement for several years, beginning his employment with the Ogden City Police Department. He eventually achieved the rank of Lieutenant with the Utah Department of Corrections. He received many commendations for his excellent detective work and compassionate service to the community.
He loved the mountains and nature and spent many enjoyable years in Beaver with his wife, Midge (Peterson), and son, Pete (Peterson). Although later divorced, he has maintained a special relationship with his son, Pete, and they have remained close friends.
Brent later moved to West Jordan, UT where he shared a home with his wife, Frances (Martinez), and daughter, Amanda (Ontiveras). He returned to school and worked his way up the ranks at the Hercules Aerospace Division, eventually becoming a Systems Engineer. He loved his work and achieved many awards and recognition such as Employee of the Year.
His life calling was as a mentor and friend to the members of his Alcoholics Anonymous "family." He had achieved 19 years of continuous sobriety prior to his passing and was an inspiration to all. He was a great teacher, sponsor, and friend and helped hundreds and hundreds of the members of his AA family. His life was dedicated to helping those who struggled with the burdens of addiction, as he had.
He was a great leader and sponsored many, many AA members and established many campouts, including the annual Beaver and Lava Hot Springs conventions. He was a founding member of the "Boozeville Bombers" and had a wonderful sense of humor and enthusiasm for life.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to all those members of his AA family, and members of his LDS ward, who influenced and cared for him in his last years.
He loved art and was a former member of the Utah Opera. He paint-ed beautifully, wrote and enjoyed beautiful poetry and quotes. He was an avid gardener whose yard was always in bloom. He loved to travel and enjoyed animals and nature.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a great testimony of the redeeming power and grace of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior.
He is survived by his children, Scott (Murray), Jilchristy (Taylorsville), Maurine (South Jordan), Pete (Lancaster, TX), Amanda (West Jordan); and three grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brothers, Mike (Gay) Dee, Draper, Craig (Linda) Dee, Salt Lake, Brad (Marsha) Dee, Ogden; and sister, Connie (David) Burton, Macon, GA. His father and mother preceded him in death.
