Louise Allen Barrett of Provo passed away peacefully Sunday morning, September 16, 2001, from brain cancer. She was born August 23, 1928, in Hunts-ville, Utah, to Edger and Leota Hislop Allen. She married Melvin J. Barrett on June 28, 1950, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are the parents of six children. Always an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Louise served in many positions including Primary and Relief Society President. Her favorite calling, and one that she did very well, was Children's Primary Chorister. Louise was recently honored for 25 years of exemplary service to the JC Penney Company.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; sisters: Janet (Ralph) Keoppel; Bonnie (Stan) Williams; and brother Lyle (LaVon) Allen. She is survived by her six children: Barbara (Byard) Wood, Susan (Merlin) Ethington, Bruce (Heidi) Barrett, Wayne (Tamara) Barrett, Mark Barrett, Janet (Scott) Burningham, 23 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 21, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Grandview 9th Ward Chapel, 1555 North 1350 West, Provo.

Friends may call at the Walker Family Mortuary of Provo, 85 East 300 South, Provo, on Thursday evening, September 20th from 6-8 p.m. and at the Church on Friday morning from 9-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.

Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Louise requested that donations be made to the Primary Children's Hospital.

Louise was in her own home, surrounded by her children, when she passed away.

Her greatest joy was and is her family, and she will forever treasure the many friends she loved throughout her 73 years.
