In loving tribute to Eva, Age 95, who passed away Sept. 20, 2001 at Sandy Regional health Center, Sandy, Utah. Born Feb. 6, 1906 in Viby, Denmark to Soren Nielsen and Johanna Lauridsen, Eva was the 7th of eight children. She came to America when 2 years old and grew up in Davis County, Utah. In her late teens, Eva Worked at Lagoon. While at work, the Farmington flash flood of 1923 damaged the resort, killing 13 people in the area a sobering event in her life.
After graduation from Davis County High, she moved to Ogden, working for the Telephone Co. Eva married Elmer J. Galbraith June 30, 1926 in the Salt Lake Temple. They raised 2 children in Salt Lake, Richland, WA. and Ogden. Elmer passed away Dec. 15, 1949 and Eva took her husbands' place as co-owner of the Ogden ABC Coal Co.
Active in the LDS church, she served a stake mission and was a ward Relief Society president, among many other callings. She married David Lamph of Ogden July 17, 1959 who died Dec. 14, 1962.
Eva moved to Salt Lake, working as a dental assistant. She married Elmer Yates of Salt Lake July 13, 1976. He passed away Sept. 25, 1988. The last surviving sibling, she was also preceded in death by her devoted daughter Betty Jean Larsen Dumm of Kearns, UT. Survived by son Richard J. Galbraith and wife Sondra of Sandy, UT., eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and ten great-great grandchildren.
Eva was a patient and loving mother and grandmother, a noble exemplar who found great joy in her family. She was full of energy and excellent homemaker and gardener. She often attended the temple, enjoyed dancing, travel and hard work, especially needlepoint and crocheting, making beautiful afghans for several generations of posterity.
Despite years of widowhood, she remained independent, cheerful and optimistic, beloved of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 24, 2001 at 10 a.m. at Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 Highland Drive. Viewing one hour prior to services. Interment Aultorest Cemetery, Ogden UT.
