DETROIT (AP) — A Spirit Airlines plane was evacuated Tuesday after a passenger found a bomb threat written on her tray table, an airport official said.

The note claimed there was a bomb on board the plane, which had made a scheduled stop at Detroit Metropolitan Airport, said airport spokesman Michael Conway.

When Flight 906 landed, the plane was emptied and the passengers and their luggage were rechecked. The flight was cleared to leave for Los Angeles about three hours later, Conway said.

Spirit Airlines officials did not return calls seeking comment.
