- Maritta B. Anderson Parsons, 89, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2001 at a local care center of causes incident to age.

She was born November 17, 1912 in Kingston, Utah, a daughter of James and Violet Syrett Anderson.

On Nov. 17, 1936, Maritta married D. Vernile Parsons in the Manti LDS Temple.

She was reared and educated in Kingston, Utah where she graduated from high school. Maritta was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in various callings in the Relief Society and Young Women's program. She served several missions to Mexico and South and Central America with her husband.

Surviving are her husband, Vernile, of Roy; four children, Atho Vernile (Charlotte) Parsons, Salt Lake City; Vernetta Alford Fuller, Roy; Belva (Dave) Ricks, Denver, Colo.; Duane James (Valerie) Parsons, Clinton; 19 grandchildren and 38 great-grand-children. Also surviving are one brother and one sister, Garth (Georgia) Anderson and Velma Mitchell.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, one son, Elton William "Bill" Parsons; four brothers, Harold Anderson, Dewey Anderson, Thurlan Anderson and Austin Anderson; and two sisters, Ardath Nielson and Viola Washburn.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Roy 5th Ward Chapel, 2100 West 5300 South.

Friends may call at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Thursday from 6 - 8 p.m. and Friday at the Ward Chapel 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
