Sarin nerve agent (GB) vapor was detected Monday inside two shipping containers at the Army's chemical weapons incinerator near Stockton, Tooele County.

"Workers were performing routine monitoring of the ambient air inside the shipping containers, which were located in the unpack area," said a news release issued by Deseret Chemical Depot. The incinerator that destroys nerve agent and a stockpile of the weapons are at the depot.

The shipping containers were in an "engineering control" area, sealed off from the outside. Workers clad in protective gear opened the containers and prepared the 155-mm nerve gas projectiles inside for processing in the plant.

According to the depot, the incident posed no risk to the workers, public or environment.
