Mom died peacefully at home October 19, 2002. She was 93 years old. She maintained a loving, joyful and happy attitude through all her days.
She was born Oct. 6, 1909 in Louisville, Kentucky to Edward Joseph Johnson and Caroline Knoblock Johnson. She married J. Rhead Pendleton, June 30, 1928 in San Jose, California. They were happily married for 61 years. Carolyn has lived in Salt Lake for 68 years. She was a loyal member of the 1st Church of Christ Scientist.
Survived by her son, John R. "Jack" (Lois) Pendleton; two grandchildren, Carrie (Tom) Phillips of Rochester, Minnesota and Edward Rhead (Jody) Pendleton of Canon City, Colorado and five great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband.
A private family memorial service is planned for Thursday. Interment, Mountain View Memorial Cemetery. We give thanks to God for this wonderful woman's life.
