There is a big difference between "fun" and "happiness." "Happiness is much more than just fun. Fun is just a fleeting moment, but happiness is a lasting thing."

The Lord's plan of salvation provides for true, lasting happiness. In Christ's parable of the prodigal son, the son squandered his fortune seeking fun, but was ultimately disappointed in finding happiness until he returned, contrite, to his father. "He finally understands that the true happiness was there, in that simple life with his family."

It is in doing the small things that happiness is found: prayer, talking to our children, Family Home Evening, feeling the Spirit. "We can feel happiness every day in our lives, through little things we do, and we are fully happy as we keep the commandments of a loving God who cares about us."

A Columbian boy, Fabian, knows the nature of true happiness. Due to an automobile accident his right leg has been amputated, but Fabian is actively participating and serving in many capacities. "He has a smiling face and is always there to help someone in need. Fabian is truly a happy young man. With an overwhelming strength which comes from his faith and trust in God, Fabian is a great example to the citizens of his home town.

"As a servant of God and as a member of his church, I invite you to be truly happy by giving heed to his counsels, by living his commandments, and by obeying the words of his living prophets."
