- Beloved brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather Quinton Ralph Hurst, age 83, passed away on November 9, 2002 after a courageous fight with cancer and lung disease.

He was born in Blanding, San Juan, Utah on October 31, 1919 to Ralph Hurst and Hazel Guymon. He married Bobbie Lee McAfee in 1943, they had 10 children, and later divorced. He then married Marian Ruth Lofquist on June 5, 1987 in Salt Lake LDS Temple.

As a young man Quinton spent years helping his father do custom work for farmers in Blanding, Utah, then in 1938 he spent a year in the CCC Camp in Ferron, Utah. In 1942 he was drafted in the Army Air Corps and was a airplane mechanic. After his military service ended in 1945 he worked as a Contract Uranium Miner for 12 years in San Juan county, Utah and then in the cross country trucking business for 35 years.

Quinton enjoyed the outdoors as a deer hunter and as a gardener. He also was a good mechanic and liked working on cars he owned. Quinton was an active member of the LDS Church and held various positions and also served on two church missions, Jordan River Temple Mission and Family History Mission. He also was gifted with a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed sharing it by singing at mission farewells, weddings, funerals and in church choirs.

He is survived by his wife, Marian; two brothers, Ivan and Ron (Bob and Helen) and two sisters, Leonore (Kenneth), Jeanene (Jim), eight children, Quinton (Laura), Myrna (Lee), Hazel (Cecil), Arlene (Dave), Barbara, Hal (Julie), Jed (Mary), Glen (Karen); four step children, Melinda, Janet (Kevin), Brian, Jeffrey (Emily), 35 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and three step grandchildren.

Quinton is preceded in death by his parents, brother, sisters, son, daughter-in-law, daughter and grandson.

Quinton will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held Wed., November 13, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Memorial Estates Mortuary Chapel, 6500 South Redwood Rd, West Jordan, Utah. There will be a viewing held Wed., November 13, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Memorial Estates Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary
