Denver-based Qwest Communications International Inc. has closed Qwest Wireless retail stores in the Sugar House area of Salt Lake City and at the South Towne Center in Sandy.
The company said it will continue to offer wireless service and handle customer inquiries through a toll-free number (1-800-244-1111), service centers and www.qwestwireless.com.
Customers also may dial 611 for customer service help on their Qwest phones.
Notices have been sent to customers that had ordered equipment or products from the closed stores.

The two Utah stores are among 17 in six states that are being closed, affecting about 90 employees. Qwest said more than 80 percent of its wireless customers use the phone or Internet rather than retail stores.
