In loving memory of Reuben Dee Larsen, 90, who passed away December 14, 2002 at his home in Orem.
He was born May 12, 1912 in Roosevelt, UT a son of Christian Cyrus and Clara Louise Anderson Broderick Larsen. He was the youngest of 19 children. He married Edith N. Jones Feb 24, 1940 in Payson, UT, their marriage was solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple, March, 1956.
He attended elementary and high school in Roosevelt, UT and graduated from Duschesne County High School, Roosevelt, in the spring of 1930. He then attended the University of Utah 1930-1934, graduating with a BS degree in Mining Engineering. He also served an LDS Mission in the fall of 1934 to the Northwestern States, headquarters, Portland, OR.
Reuben served as a scout in the Boy Scouts of America more than 50 years; he received the Silver Beaver Award and the 50 year Scout Award. In 1956 he received a lifetime First Aid Instructor Certificate from the Bureau of Mines. He taught Bureau of Mines and American Red Cross Breathing and Heart Massage, and taught first aid to more than 4,000 individuals.
Reuben is survived by his wife, Edith; their five children, Curt (Betty) Larsen, Ron (Linda) Larsen, Keith (Ava) Larsen, Jay Larsen, Mrs. Kevin (Beth) Riedler; 24 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wed. Dec 18, 2002 1 p.m. Lakeridge LDS Stake Center, 158 E. 1100 S, Orem, UT. A viewing will be Tues. 6-8 p.m. Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 S. State St, Orem, and 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. prior to the funeral at the stake center. Interment, Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
