OREM — A 27-year-old Spanish Fork woman was cited Saturday for allegedly leaving her 7-month-old baby in her car while she browsed the aisles in ShopKo.

Orem Police Lt. Doug Edwards said police were called Saturday afternoon by a couple of women who noticed the infant in the back of the car.

Edwards said an officer waited for the woman to return to her unlocked car for 10 minutes before entering the store and asking ShopKo employees to page her.

"When asked to explain her conduct, the woman said that the baby was so quiet in the back seat that she simply forgot he was in the car," said Edwards.

The woman was given a court date, Edwards said.
